We're Having A Baby!
My last blog post was December 1st- how did that happen?! My sketchy posting history comes down to a rough first trimester. Yup, we’re having a baby!!
After keeping this private for ages it’s so nice to be open and share our news. We are super excited for the arrival of baby number two in June and our little girl reminds us every day that she’s going to be a big sister and that my tummy will be big! She’s the cutest.
So like I mentioned my first trimester was rough, a lot rougher than my first pregnancy. I remember being tired before but this pregnancy I had extreme exhaustion. As in doing nursery drop off and putting on a load of washing was enough to send me to the sofa knackered for the rest of the day. Life basically came to a halt and nothing got done at my end. It’s almost a miracle that we got organised for Christmas!
The other fun physical side effect was severe nausea. Whilst I was never sick- and having had a few friends go through that I am very grateful- though spending the whole day thinking I was going to perhaps finally be sick wasn’t great. I spent most of the day eating Ginger Nut biscuits and sipping water. My one food aversion was Earl Grey tea, my favourite! And I had a total craving for salt- my avocado toast was covered in an ever increasing ‘dusting’ of salt.
We found out we were expecting at six weeks on our Loch Lomond staycation and our first scan was pretty late at fourteen weeks so that made the first trimester feel even longer. It was such a relief to have the first ultrasound and also seeing our little bub on screen. We told our little girl the morning after the scan and she has been so proud that she will be becoming a big sister. She announced the news to most people over Christmas which was really sweet to have her be a part of sharing the news.
I won’t be doing weekly bump photos but I will do periodic updates as my pregnancy progresses and share some baby items, maternity clothes and maybe the nursery once thats done. I will probably share how we’re preparing our little girl for the new arrival- fingers crossed her excitement continues!!
I’m already almost halfway and I’m sure it’ll be June before I know it!
